Repairing your home from certain damages requires you to have your own toolbox containing different gears and equipments. Familiarizing yourself with each gear or equipment will allow you to make efficient use of each of them in all your repair tasks. Therefore, let us have a quick peek at the basic home repair tools inside your toolbox and their corresponding functionality.

The first tool that we find in your toolbox is a screwdriver. A screwdriver is primarily used to tighten a screw to fasten two objects or to loosen a screw to detach two objects from each other. A screw is a type of bolt that has a head closely similar to a nail but sometimes it has a cut which can be vertical or cross in appearance. Its body has a spiral shape whose ridges serve as the fastener of two attached objects. Without a screwdriver, it is going to be difficult to attach and detach objects that require screws as fasteners.

Next tool that we find is the hammer. A hammer is used to drive in nails into objects by means of strong powerful strikes to the nails. A typical hammer contains a head which is used to drive the force onto the nail and a tail that looks like a two-branched fork that is used to remove a nail by inserting the nail’s head in the middle of the two branches and pulling it away from the object. The handle of the hammer is commonly made of wood and is long enough to provide the proper lever in driving powerful blows when used.

Another important tool that should be found in your toolbox that has cutting features is a saw or a utility knife. Both this cutting tools have toothed ridges that are very sharp to cut on different materials like wood or steel. For maximum cutting capability, the saw or utility knife should be sharpened regularly.
